four

This is how a princess turns four...

(I know, it doesn't look pretty, but it tasted divine)

right before my very eyes!

Oh this girl!
and angel and a firecracker,
all wrapped up in one.

Each day an adventure,
pre school
friends
dressing up
drawing with markers
talking and talking and talking
mommy snuggles during nap time
scared of the garbage truck
waiting for school kids
having snacks
polly pockets

We love you Evie Angel!

birthday girl

Stella turned 8 on the 18th of March.

It was a celebration!
She thought and planned and decorated,
for weeks.
We tried to stick to her vision.
She wanted a Hawaiian party.

 It was a great day,
filled with flowers, friends,
swimming, sandy beach cupcakes,
paper lanterns,
and tiny umbrellas.

She was thrilled,
just as we are,
that she's our birthday girl.

Evelyn is three

Evelyn had a birthday on the 29th.
In the midst of a busy weekend of
Halloween festivities, she turned three.

She will hold up 5 fingers and tell you
she's two...cuz she's silly like that.

She may tell you how she wears "unnies" now
and goes potty in the big potty.

She will probably ask you to carry her,
even though she is capable of walking.

She will curl up on your lap
and rub your arm and snuggle.

She still looks for her "binkie-boo"
when it's bed time.

She most definitely can tell you what to do
and where to do it, she still has that spunk.

Everywhere we go people still ask about her hair,
"is it real?"  or "that's what you call a blonde!"
For the record: this mama does NOT dye Ev's hair,
I can barely get her to sit for teeth brushing....
This hair is all natural, all Evelyn!

She is priceless for sure!

It was a happy third year baby girl.

birthday boy

5 years!

This was finally the year for a friend party.
All he wanted was a swim party,
with his cousins and his friends.

A very kind friend let us borrow their pool and yard for a Saturday afternoon.
Let the swimming begin!

Cousins, nana, papa, great grandparents,
aunts, uncles, parents.
a school friend, a neighbor friend & a church friend,
all the crowd a boy could want.

Presents, cupcakes and sno cones
added to the excitement

Five is a looking good

Sam

On the eve of his birthday Sam was not so patiently
waiting for his dinner.
Soon he was found like this. . .

Sound asleep across two bar stools.

We left him there while we ate dinner.

Then I carried my little man up to bed.

He had wicker marks pressed into his sweet cheek.

He snuggled with his mama, while she thought back

four years to the eve of his birth,

laboring and baking a cake in anticipation of

his birth celebration--complete with extra chocolate frosting.

To the moment she saw those big eyes and knew

he was hers--forever.

Those same big, brown eyes still capture my heart.

When coupled with his grin, those eyes quite often

get him just what he wants and out of a pickle.

Maybe that's why little boys are sent so cute.

To make up for jumping off the furniture,

cruising down the stairs in plastic boxes,

peeing all over the toilet,

painting basketballs with toothpaste,

picking vegetables before they're ripe

and never liking what's for dinner....

He's our Sammy, and we love him so!

p.s. just today he very earnestly asked me, "mom, can I have a tiger? so that next year at the beach, I can ride it up the big sand hill and go fast all the way to the top!"

I told him to ask his dad...
