Who's a Chocolate Lover?

If asked what my favorite food is, I can easily reply, "Chocolate!" My dad always said that I could smell chocolate being opened from anywhere in the house. He could no sooner pull apart the plastic on a bag of Chocolate M&Ms before I would be right there, asking for a few (or more).

Well, I am here to tell you that the skill has been passed on to my children. Which is not in my best interest, because it is very DIFFICULT to sneek in an afternoon dose of my favorite treat! I start digging through the shelves for something chocolatey and delicious . . .and then hear the pitter-patter of little feet.

When I open the refigerator door to get something, Sam comes running. By the time I take my items to the counter and turn back to the fridge, this is what I see. . .

He has taken his usual seat and has chocolate syrup in hand (and mouth). We even find him "doubling" sometimes, with a bottle of syrup in each hand--talent!

Other times, we find two chocolate lovers at work!

We enjoy chocolate treats at our house. . .what do you enjoy?

A New (little) Man

In October Sam had his first haircut. It was such a hard step for me. Strange too, because having a girl we always wanted her hair to grow and not be short. In the months since October, Sam's hair has gotten long again (of course). So, this afternoon we dived in and cut it. Oddly enough, he was fascinated by the sound of the clippers and so he sat pretty still. This is unusual because unless sleeping, he is NEVER still.

Before
During

After
I am sure that he has probably just been waiting for someone to get rid of all that hair. We even got rid of the fuzzy, nubbies from his extreme bed head in back (sorry, no photo of that) He looks happy to have a new "do". I'm sure he feels like a new "little man"

A New Era

Sam, at age 17 months, still lets his mother choose his clothing. Though he resists my efforts to actually put the clothes on him, once they are on he is good with whatever I choose.

Stella, showing her independece of being almost 4, has decided recently that she will choose her own clothing in the morning. We are very proud of her for being able to dress herself from head to toe, usually going in the right directions too, but-

I'll let the pictures tell the rest. . .

Please see picture below to see the final touches of getting dressed!

Note: her shoes on the wrong feet, "but they feel FINE!" and Sam is wearing big boy shoes now!

Quotable

Yesterday morning I was getting this little Angel ready for church. Things were not working

out the way she wanted. . . Her dress wasn't the right one, her tights were twisted, and she

didn't like her hair that way. It was an effort in frustration!

Finally, she looked up at me and said, " YOU are NOT my best mom!"

I smiled back at her and said, "Well, WHO is your best mom?"
Without any hesitation she said, "My DAD IS!!!!"
So, there you have it! Right out of the mouth of our 3 year old.

Well, here goes. . .

I have been sitting back watching this blogging world for a while. Wondering, just wondering. Is it complicated? Time consuming? Do I have anything to write about?

KC and I have been amongst the last to become technological, to get cell phones or high speed internet. It is only fitting that we wait around to start a blog too!

I have enjoyed reading the blogs of family and friends so much. I think that it can be a great tool for keeping in touch with those that we don't see or talk too as often as we would like.

Hold on, as I venture in. . .

Winter Fun

This year we have had a few skiffs of snow. None that lasted past 10 a.m. Until last week. . .One day we finally had snow that lasted until K.C. came home from work. He was very excited to get the kids all bundled up and head out doors.

Here is Sam!

And Stella!

They were so bundled up that Sam tipped over in his attempt to walk towards the front door. It was a scene very remniscent of The Christmas Story. Thankfully no one stuck their tongues on a lightpost. . .

KC and I took turns pulling them around the cul-de-sac for a while. Sherman joined in the fun, smelling like wet, stinky dog and licking the kids any chance he got.

At least the sled got one good use this year. KC thinks that next time Sherman should pull the sled!
