It's leading to fall and the start of school.
As a teacher, this time of year used to bring about mixed emotions.
Excitement, at the prospect of bright, shiny new faces filled with excitement.
Also, a smidgen of dread at all the hard work that is involved
with setting up a classroom and training up a new crop of
six year olds who have 20 times more energy than me.
Last night we went to back to school night.
We mingled in the hall with all the excited parents.
We watched Stella's nerves settle as she realized that two good friends
would be in her new class.
We met a teacher, who seems great, and I know
know has probably spent the better part of this month at the
school prepping for the year.
Sometimes, it's a thankless job...
but, at our house, we are
THANKFUL
for all the hardworking teachers, who love our kids.
Obviously, not in the profession for the money, but
rather a desire to teach and love and change the future
into a better one.
The other thing that I LOVE about this time of year...
the smell of school supplies.
I could stand in the isle at the store and just smell
the pencil lead and crayola crayons.
There really is nothing like a fresh box of crayons,
is there?
